Beach baby

The first full day saw us down at the beach. Leo wasn't so keen on sitting in the water with Daddy and instead clung to Mummy for a while, taking in things at his own pace.

The surf patroller perked up once he got on the sun lounger

Then he reverted to one of his favourite games - that of hat stylist

Aloha!

Leo seemed to cope quite well with the 4.45am start and the 6-hour flight. He's strong and wriggly, but happily no meltdowns en route.

The odd catnap helped too

We checked in just after 4pm and, after some unpacking, we were able to go out for a quick explore our condo complex and see palm trees, volcanic rock and some little yellow birdies

Bye bye trousers, hello sunscreen!

Boy in the Bubble

Another quick post today because we were mostly getting ready to leave for Hawaii tomorrow (Eeek!)

So here's Leo grappling with his rain cover as we took him through the rain to get supplies.

Back to WA

Not many photos today as we spent much of it driving back to Seattle

So Leo was as happy as the rest of us to finally get home and do some rolling around

Beach boys

Today was our only full day in Manzanita, Oregon. Leo enjoyed his morning apple at the window seat of our beach house watching the Pacific waves.

We all went for a beach walk and took a rest on the fish bench.
Leo stole some of Daddy's chicken for his lunch.
In the afternoon we drove up the coast to Short Sands beach.

Leo looking at the treetops.

Grinning at Daddy

We went back to our beach house for a rest, then Daddy wanted to go and play in the water.

Our house is the middle one.

The Hand that Rocked the Buggy

Enough time in Portland for a riverside walk in the sun, where a certain young man was defying sleep

And then onwards and outwards to Oregon's coast for Leo's first trip to the seaside. We stopped first at Cannon Beach for some lunch, some hair-pulling and then a snooze.

Finally we reached Manzanita, with enough time left for a stroll fifty metres from our beach house to the beach.

Turns out the ocean's still quite cold at this time of year..

Mummy and Leo were happy to watch

Voodoo Child

Leo visited his second US State today, as we adventured south to Portland, Oregon. We stopped en route for lunch at a rest stop.

We checked in at the very eclectic Hotel Monaco Portland - Leo is looking at the mirrored fridge and trying to work out how any different patterns he could see in the room.

Then we went out in the 80 degree March heat to explore, keeping Leo in as much shade as possible.

And of course, we ended up checking out Uncle Richard's recommendation of Voodoo Doughnut.

Right, time to sign off and eat some doughnuts!
